Traveling Through Tuesday (#1)

Traveling Through Tuesday

Do you like to read books that set in a certain city, state, or country? Do you ever find a town in a book that just calls your name and you can't wait to tell someone about it?

This fantastic new meme was Jen's idea from Crazy for Books and is hosted by Lori over at Lori's Reading Corner.

One of my favourite things about reading is that when I'm reading a great story, the book transports me to faraway places in the blink of an eye. Isn't it great to be roaming through an exciting and lush countryside in Latin America or stroll the busy streets of New York or London while comfortably and safely tuck in bed at home? Reading is the cheapest way of travel and an excellent training for my imagination. (And of course if later, anytime in the future I happen to visit those locations I read about, it is always interesting to see if the image I came up with in my mind corresponds to reality or couldn't be further from it.)

I will extend the scope of this meme a bit, telling you all about in which corner of the world I am right now thanks to the actual book I'm reading.

This Tuesday* I am in...

As that is where my current book, I Never Fancied Him Anyway is set. I'm always somewhat puzzled when I realize that somehow 95% of the chick lits I read are written by Irish authors, so I'm quite familiar with the streets and life in imaginary Dublin.

A few years ago I went and visited Dublin, and had a great time! The city is everything (and even more) I imagined and was lead to believe as a reader of Irish chick lits: athmospheric little streets, always buzzing pubs, lots and lots of people sitting in bars in weekday nights, chatting away and drinking. The city has a great mixture of ancient buildings, modern flats and wonderful green parks. I had a lovely time there, so it's always a pleasure to return to Dublin, even if only by means of a novel :-)

* I know, I know it is already Wednesday in most parts of the world (also where I am), but last night I couldn't post and I don't want to miss out on this week's Traveling Through Tuesday, so let's just pretend it was posted yesterday, ok? thanks :-)
