May Flashback

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for posting my monthly wrap up a bit late, real life has been busy. Unfortunately this month wasn't heavy on reviews, but I have read a lot and made notes, so sooner or later, in the course of June those will be posted. Also there will be a series of events organised here at Ex Libris which I have been organising and putting together, but I won't spoil the surprise yet, you'll see what I'm talking about soon enough: the first event will start next week! woohoo! :-)

The first big news of what happened in May is that Ex Libris moved! I purchased my own custom domain name so from now on you will be able to access it at www.stella-exlibris.com

So let's see what May's been about:

Books read:

1. Sugar Creek by Toni Blake
2. Master of None by Sonya Bateman
3. Stop Me by Richard Jay Parker
4. Embers by Laura Bickle
5. The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker by Leanna Renee Hieber
6. Colters' Woman by Maya Banks
7. Eva's Last Dance by Teal Ceagh
8. A Rush of Wings by Adrian Phoenix

Books reviewed:

1. Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione
2. Bitten by Kelley Armstrong (for which I received the Top Reviewer Ward at Blog with Bite)

Books I liked the best this month: This month was full of fantastic reads! Enjoyed Sugar Creek very much and thought it would be my top read until I read Embers and then The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker and then Master of None!

All were amazing books I will surely re-read and that I would definitely recommend. I would like to highlight and stress what an amazing read Master of None is. Completely surprised me, the writing is brilliant, laugh out loud funny and freshyl original. Sonya Bateman is an author to watch!! Look out for my reviews of these books, because these books are not to be missed!

Books I liked the least this month: Was a good month, the book I liked the least this month (Eva's Last Dance) received 3 stars.

Reading Challenges 2010 - Status report:

Suspense & Thriller Challenge: 5 read, 7/12 to go

Speculative Fiction Challenge: 13 read 11/24 to go

The Hollows Reading Challenge: 1 read 7/8 to go

Events: A lot has been taking place in May, get comfortable, it will take a while.

Cynthia Roberts events:

I hosted my first author promotion/interview with the lovely Cynthia Roberts, historical romance debut author, whose first novel, Wind Warrior is coming out on June 15.

You can check out Cynthia's guest blog post, the interview with her and read an excerpt of Wind Warrior.

Interview:

I also had my first interview with Reagan from Star Shadow! You can read about it here.

Book Blogging Buddies:

Star Shadow had a fantastic initiative: to connect fellow bloggers and help them develop a stronger, more special bond, by becoming Book Blogging Buddies. You can read about the program here.

My BBB (=Book Blogging Buddy) became Melissa from Spellbound by Books. I will soon have a more detailed introduction of Melissa and her blog, so you can all (those who are not already her followers) get to know her a bit better.

Armchair BEA:

BEA and Blogger Convention were both held in May and those of us who were unable to attend were sadly moping around until a few creative ladies had the amazing idea to organize a virtual BEA and thus the Armchair BEA was born!

The programs were plenty and varied, there were blogger interviews, lot of interesting posts and discussions and of course exciting giveaways! You can read my post To post or not to post, that is the question... which I wrote about the issue of bloggers writing negative reviews, and whether they should post them or not. It generated quite an intense discussion, it was great reading all your comments, keep them coming, I always love to see what you think!

BBA:

May also saw the launch of our virtual book club, Book Bloggers Anonymous, fantastic idea and creation of Steph from Paper Cut Reviews. The BBA officially started with the first book club discussion on June 1 with Adrian Phoenix's A Rush of Wings, and the hosts of the first event are Stephanie and Athenna from Paranormal Haven.

You can join us anytime at the BBA Goodreads group.

Let's Swap:

I also introduced Let's Swap at Ex Libris, where we can exchange books we either have in duplicate or wouldn't want to keep after having read it. If you'd like to exchange some books, please drop me an e-mail.

Madrid calling:

I went on a short family trip to Madrid, where we had a great time! I shared a few photos of the trip as well as photographic proof of a small restaurant in downtine Madrid called Ex Libris, upon which we stumbled by chance! :-)

Reading Habits:

For those of you who would like to get to know a bit more about me, you can read My Reading Habits, a fun questionnaire which made the round in the blogosphere.

Giveaways:

This month was full of giveaways, first there was the giveaway of Wind Warrior in the 3 day Cynthia Roberts event. I had my first interview by Reagan from Star Shadow with another giveaway and to celebrate Armchair BEA and Ex Libris having 222 followers I hosted the 222 Followers Giveaway, which is still going on, is open internationally and will end on June 15.

Awards:

I received the Top Reviewer Award from Blog with Bite for my review of Bitten by Kelley Armstrong.

The Prolific Blogger Award which I received from Melissa at Spellbound by Books (even before we became BBBs).

Received this one from Florie at Sweet Happy Endings.

Received the Great Blog Neighbor Award from Priya at The Plum Bean Project and Felicia from Geeky Blogger's Book Blog, the creator of this award!

Received the One Lovely Award from Karen at For What It's Worth.

Thank you all so much for thinking of me and awarding me these fun awards!

Ok, I think I haven't forgotten anything, as you could see though it was a month seriously lacking in reviews, there were quite a lot going on. And as you will see June will be just as busy, with a few special events I'm planning, so keep your eyes open you won't want to miss them! ;-)
