Character Interview with Secret and Holden by Sierra Dean + Giveaway

Today I am ecstatic to welcome two amazing characters from Sierra Dean's fantastic new urban fantasy series, the Secret McQueen series. You might have come to know them in Something Secret This Way Comes, but you'll get to see a very different side of them in The Secret Guide to  Dating Monsters, the prequel novella to the series, which was released on 19 July. So I guess by now you might have guessed who are my celebrity guests today, drumroll and trumpets please and give it up for

Secret McQueen and Holden Chancery!!

First of all I would like to thank Sierra Dean for forwarding my invitation to you and I would like to thank you for taking the time of your busy vampire hunting and Council liaising schedule to make an appearance at Ex Libris, I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading your stories! But I don't want to detain you long, so let's skip the fan gushing and start, shall we?

Tell readers a little about yourselves. Something maybe Sierra would have neglected to include when she talks about you.

Holden: I'm a vampire.

Secret: I think she was hoping for something a little more groundbreaking than that.

Holden: She said a little. If she wanted my life story she should have been more specific.

Secret: This is Holden Chancery. He's a pain in the ass.

Holden: The is Secret McQueen and she's a-

Secret: [shoots him a look] Lovely young woman.

Holden: Took the words right out of my mouth.

What is a typical day in your life like? Tell us about the world you live in?

Secret: We both live and work in New York City. A typical day involves me waking up, this guy invading my personal domain, and usually ends with me killing someone.

Holden: My day normally involves trying to convince her to do her job without breaking any council rules. It has yet to work.

Secret: You've got to break some eggs to make an omelet.

Secret, how would you describe Holden? Holden, ditto to you.

Holden: [looks at Secret] I'm dying to hear this.

Secret: You're already dead.

Holden: Ouch.

Secret: If pressed to compliment him, I'd say he's loyal, smart, and obviously very pretty.

Holden: I like to think I'm more dashingly handsome than pretty.

Secret: You'd like to think a lot of things. Your turn.

Holden: Secret is charming if a little too acerbic, and generally a nuisance. That said, she'd good at her job, and she's pretty easy to look at.

Holden, what's it like to be responsible for Secret?

Holden: You mean, do I like being in charge of a half-vampire bounty hunter who has no regard for following the rules and puts both of our lives on the line every time she goes out into the field.

Holden: Everyone needs a little thrill in their life. I guess she's mine.

Secret: Gotta keep your heart rate up, right?

Secret met some new, warmblooded men in Something Secret This Way Comes. How has that changed the dynamic between you two?

Holden: You mean her new pets?

Secret: Oh for God's sake.

Holden: What? Keep dogs in the house and you'll wind up with fleas.

Secret: Holden is old school vampire. He things werewolves are mange-infested pests. I don't think meeting Lucas and Desmond has changed my dynamic with Holden all that much. Unless you count my discovering how he really feels about werewolves.

Holden: I think it's changed some things...

Secret: Such as?

Holden: [shrugs] Obviously nothing important.

What can we expect from you guys in the future?

Holden: Well, my understanding is the next story is A Bloody Good Secret. Anyone who has read Something Secret This Way Comes knows my fate is a little... up in the air. That is the main focus of the next book.

Secret: We learn a whole new meaning to “invasion of privacy.”

Holden: [grins]

Describe your relationship.

Secret: He's my handler with the council. Our relationship is strictly professional.

Holden: I think it's a little more complicated than that.

Secret: It's only complicated because you insist on making it complicated.

Holden: And you keep letting me.

Ahem, alright, let's change things up a little. If you were trapped on a desert island, what three things would you insist on having with you?

Holden: Shelter. Blood...

Secret: A boat.

Secret, use one word to sum up Holden.

Secret: Irritating.

Holden, same deal.

Holden: Beguiling.

Who would win in a hand-to-hand fight?

Secret/Holden: Me.

Thanks for taking time to talk to us. Hope you guys can resolve a little of this conflict in time for the next book.

Secret: I wouldn't count on it.

Thank you Secret and Holden for stopping by Ex Libris and giving this exclusive interview! I wish you the best for the future and could you please tell Sierra to hurry up and write your stories faster? She has no idea what withdrawal torture her fanatic fans (*cough* me *cough*) have to go through after each story when they have to wait unending months! ;-)
