Being Sexy in the 23rd Century
by Lilly Cain

It’s a hundred years from now and earth has met its first set of aliens. The Confederacy, a large group of politically aligned species, has arrived and introduced us to the Inarrii – a people who look enough like us that we won’t freak out. We will, however, want to date them, make love to them, even marry them. In whatever weird ceremony they can think up. We don’t care – they are tall, hot, and have fantastic nerve lines on the surface of their skin. These L’inar nerves look like tattoos, until the Inarri become excited, angry or frightened. Then they rise in narrow, shallow ridges. Touching these nerve lines brings intense pleasure. And since they are a sharing people and telepathic to varying degrees, we’re able to experience the same pleasure. Yay Inarrii. :-)

So that’s how it is in my world, The Confederacy Treaty Series with Carina Press. Each novella (about 40,000 words) tells the story of a first for our world. In Alien Revealed we meet our very first alien spy. And we fall for her and the military man from Earth who comes to love her.

There’s always been romance in Science fiction, whether it’s been popular to admit it or not. Sex is a big part of life. Look at Star Wars, and Princess Leia. Did anyone not imagine she was going to hook up with Han Solo?

How about forbidden romance in Star Wars I, II, and III? And Star Trek is rife with episodes full of fantasies, fulfilled and not. Poor Seven of Nine. I so wanted her to hook up for real. The holodeck is cool and all, but somehow not satisfying.

Don’t even get me started with Captain Kirk. Seriously. And those are just two of the science fiction franchises that come to mind.

Will our own love change so much in a hundred years? With robotic lovers or holodeck affairs. Meeting aliens and loving them and their new forms of pleasure. Good God, I hope so.

What do you think?

Alien Revealed by Lilly Cain

Book #1 in The Confederacy Treaty series

Inarrii agent Alinna Gaerrii was tasked with observing the Starforce base on Earth. Crash landing her observation pod onto the base was not part of her mission briefing. Neither was making m’ittar—mind contact—with Major David Brown, the human who discovered her amongst the wreckage.

David thinks she’s a psychologist sent to evaluate his Special Forces team, and Alinna goes along with his misconception, seizing the opportunity to observe humans up close. But their daily contact has unexpected side effects, and Alinna soon invades David’s dreams. Through their intimate mental connection she allows him to express his forbidden physical desires.

Alinna delights in the sensory exploration and grows excited by the prospect of a treaty with the humans and a potential life mate in David. But an attack from an unknown ship sends the base into chaos, and Alinna may be forced to reveal her lie, erasing all hope of a successful treaty, and driving David away forever…
