Romance and Me Reading Challenge - Book Suggestions for May

May is Fantasy Romance month in The Romance and Me Reading Challenge!

I am a fantasy virgin, the only book I have read in this genre is the Lord of the Rings trilogy I read when I was 15. I'm curious and excited to discover fantasy better since urban fantasy is my favourite genre besides romance. As I had no idea what books to suggest for you to read for this month's challenge I asked around on Twitter where the numerous fantasy fans were kind enough to help me out with a few recommendations. Here they are:

I have heard high praises of Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series and I already have the first 3 books on my shelves (thank you Sully! :-) (yes, I'll start this series for the challenge). (Reading order)

C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series comes highly recommended as well, I remember lots of bloggers praised Crown of Crystal Flame. (Reading order)

Elizabeth Vaughan's Chronicles of the Warlands series (reading order) and Epic of Palins series were mentioned (reading order), the 1st one being a favourite of several bloggers and authors.

Jean Johnson

Her Sons of Destiny series (reading order) was also mentioned as a favourite of some fantasy lovers.

Kathryne Kennedy

If you'd like some historical romance + fantasy combo I hear Kathryne Kennedy's books are for you. She has Victorian Fantasy books: the Relics of Merlin series (reading order) and Georgian Fantasy books: the Elven Lords series (reading order).

Sharon Shinn's Twelve Houses series was also recommended as a fantasy romance series worth checking out. (Reading order)

Hailey Edwards' Daughters of Askara trilogy will come to an end in June (reading order), we still have time to catch up in time for the release of the 3rd book Eversworn ;-)

Besides Anne Bishop's series I'll also be reading A Hint of Frost by Hailey Edwards. Seriously with such an alluring cover how could I say no? :-) So I hope it will be a great introduction for me into the fantasy genre.

And last but not least Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel Legacy (Reading order) and her Namaah trilogy were also recommended.

I hope you found some interesting new books/authors to discover and challenge yourself to expand your reading horizons ;-)

Do you have any other great fantasy romance recommendations I should check out?

If you'd like to sign up for the challenge, you can do so HERE.
