Guest post: Pucker Up! by Hailey Edwards + Giveaway

Pucker Up
by Hailey Edwards

Kisses convey emotion in a way that few gestures can. Think about it for a minute. There are soft kisses we press to our children’s cheeks, lingering kisses we give our lovers, quick kisses we give our spouses that say I want you, but the kids will be awake before I can do anything about it.

But have you ever considered a kiss beyond its significance? Are there types? Do kisses have names? Can you request a particular one? If you did, would your significant other know what you meant?

I got curious and did a little research on the topic. Here’s what I discovered…

There are indeed names for different types of kisses, and I’m going to highlight five of them.

1. The Vampire Kiss.

How to: This kiss reminds me of giving someone a hickey. It’s a deep kiss given to your significant other on their neck. It involves sucking the skin and light biting. Be gentle the first time you attempt this kiss. Some people have lower tolerance for pain than others.

2. The Single-Lip Kiss.

How to: Take your partner’s upper or lower lip between your lips and gently suck on it.

3. The Butterfly Kiss.

How to: Butterfly kisses means simply that you’re batting your eyelashes so that they tickle the cheek of your sweetie.

4. The Spiderman Kiss.

How to: Inspired by the famous kiss from the Spiderman film, to accomplish this cinematic kiss, your partner’s face must be upside-down from yours. Your top lip will match their bottom lip in a variation on the single-lip kiss.

5. What list would be complete without the French Kiss?

How to: This open-mouth kiss requires you to use your tongue to gently probe your sweetie’s mouth. (That sounds horribly un-romantic when phrased that way!)

So what do you think? Are the names or the kisses too silly? I’ll admit I was surprised to find common names and instructions for them. I can understand the appeal of the vampire kiss and the Spiderman kiss, but I don’t know that I could talk my husband into hanging upside down long enough for us to try it. And really, that type of kiss always reminds me of the upside-down tree sex in Larissa Ione’s Eternal Rider. *cough* Or is that just me?

Leave a comment and let me know what type of kiss you think is best or the most fun. One lucky commenter will win their choice of Everlong or A Hint of Frost in any digital format.

Book #3 in the Daughters of Askara series

Steal the salt. Bind the grimoire. Escape the male.

When an exchange of stolen goods in the Feriana marketplace turns sour, Isabeau stumbles from the encounter bruised and laden with new orders to complete an even larger heist. With her child’s life at stake, there’s no room for error—or allies.

Armed with a lethal book of spells, she strikes a dangerous bargain with Roland Bernhard. Steal a shipment of salt from the Feriana colony, and she’ll have her freedom—and her daughter. It’s all she’s ever wanted. At least it was…until she runs into Dillon Preston.

Dillon is out of commission after a mine explosion, and itching for a distraction. He gets it when the female who saved his leg arrives at the colony with nothing but flimsy excuses and even flimsier attire. She’s after something, but is it him—or the salt?

Trapped in a desperate bid to gain true freedom, Isabeau is willing to sacrifice her life for her daughter’s, but Dillon has other plans. He wants a package deal, and he’s not willing to lose either female, even if it means the future king of Sere’s head will roll.

Warning: This title contains a heroine desperate to save her daughter and a hero determined to make them a family. It also includes wings, horns and other assorted appendages.
