Historical Romance Addiction by Lila DiPasqua + Giveaway

As part of the Romance and Me Reading Challenge since September is Historical Romance month (one of my oldest and most favourite romance sub-genres!), I wanted to introduce you to one of my favourite historical romance authors, someone whose stories are a bit different than the usual HRs as they are steamy fairy tale retellings! Let me introduce you to the wonderful Lila DiPasqua who stops by to tell you about her history addiction and her latest release UNDONE, a fiery retelling of Rapunzel. ;-) Please give Lila the warmest welcome and you could even win a copy of UNDONE!

My Historical Romance Addiction
by Lila DiPasqua

My name is Lila DiPasqua, and I’m a history addict.

Oh, how true this is! In fact, I can’t recall a time when I didn’t love history. I have to be dragged out of libraries. The moment I step into one, I usually darted straight to the history section. I’m fascinated by anything from the past. Getting every detail in my books as accurate as possible has to be one of the greatest challenges to writing a book set in historical times.

It’s a labor of love. Something I enjoy immensely.

So, it really shouldn’t be a big surprise, I suppose, that I write historical romance.

The scandalous kind.

After all, there was plenty of scandalous behavior throughout history.

I’m not your typical historical romance author, you see. I like to write stories outside the box. Historical romances that are different. Fresh. I’m willing to go into places in history other authors don’t usually tread. But I make sure that no matter what time and place my books are set in, you’ll find characters you can relate to.

In every book, you can expect a sexy, carnally-gifted, charming alpha hero. A strong, smart heroine—who’s more than his match. :)

UNDONE is my latest in the Fiery Tales series. It’s my version of Rapunzel.

And it all came to be because of two names I stumbled upon while reading a history book.
Jean Bart and Réné DuGuay-Trouin.

These two men were born commoners and commanded fleets sailing as privateers for their country. Despite their remarkable achievements, they couldn’t be officers in the King’s official navy as there weren’t nobleman.

That’s when the hero in UNDONE was born!

I created Simon Boulenger. A man who had humble beginnings, but big dreams. He is the commander of a fleet of privateer ships for his nation and he has been vastly successful at it, all the while hoping that his achievements would earn him recognition and allow him to be ennobled and made an officer in the King’s official navy.

But things are complicated for Simon.

And he’s in a lot of danger. Not from enemy ships. But from powerful members at court.

Enter in a beautiful woman with a dark secret, and Simon’s world will never be the same.

UNDONE is an emotional, steamy read. Readers are telling me UNDONE made them cry.

I have the best job in the world. I get to write stories about characters like Simon and Angelica. And I’m blessed to be able to share them with you. Dare to be swept into my Fiery Tales world!

Do you love a tortured hero? If so, what’s one of your favorite books with a tortured hero?

Undone by Lila DiPasqua

Inspired by the tale of Rapunzel, Lila DiPasqua offers a new steamy, emotionally charged historical romance in the acclaimed Fiery Tales Series . . .

Rescuing this beauty from the ‘tower’ is only the beginning . . .

Maintaining her ruse as a commoner, and trusting no one has kept Angelica safe. But a chance encounter with a handsome stranger lands her right where danger lies. Now, this sinfully handsome man with arresting blue eyes and a polished manner thinks he’s saved her life, when in fact he’s placed her in great peril. She’s intent on keeping him and everyone else at arm’s length. Yet, the smoldering attraction between them is difficult to deny. And impossible to ignore . . .

As commander of a number of privateer ships, Simon Boulenger dresses and speaks like an aristocrat, and has obtained wealth. But he is still not a noble. Or an officer in the King’s Navy. His lifelong dream to elevate himself from his station of birth and attain a respectable place in society is dead. Worse, he’s ensnared in a deadly scheme, and must get out. But how is he to stay focused on his dangerous mission when the mysterious beauty has him utterly intrigued? He can’t afford the distraction any more than he can resist the carnal hunger she stirs. Simon soon discovers that she’s not only a passionate soul mate, but a woman born into privilege. A woman he can never have. But they’re in too deep. Their hearts are at risk . . . as well as their lives.

Lila DiPasqua writes wicked & witty historical romance for Penguin/Berkley. She lives with her real-life hero husband and three children and is a firm believer in the happily-ever-after.
