Interview with Katee Robert + Giveaway

I am happy to welcome to Ex Libris Katee Robert, one of the two authors whose sexy novels were selected to debut Entangled Publishing's new sexy line: Brazen. I read Wrong Bed, Right Guy and liked it very much (as you can tell from my review), so I was glad when I could sit down with Katee and grill her about the book and the characters. Please join us and you could even win a copy of Wrong Bed, Right Guy!

Stella: Hi Katee, welcome to Ex Libris! Can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Katee: Thank you for having me! I’m a nutty writer who has no inside voice and tends to say stuff that should really be left unsaid.

Stella: Your latest novel was chosen to debut Entangled Publishing’s new sexy line: the Brazen imprint, congratulations! Can you tell readers what they can expect of Wrong Bed, Right Guy?

Katee: It’s a combo of sexy and sweet. Basically, a good girl decides to take matters into her own hands and seduce her boss. Which is great and all, but she crawls into the wrong bed. Much chaos and HAWT smexy times ensue.

Stella: Do you remember what inspired the story, was there a specific moment/event/film/song that sparked the idea or how did it all start?

Katee: It started from a conversation with my editor and quickly spun out of control in the best way possible.

Stella: Wrong Bed, Right Guy is a steamy contemporary romance, very different from your previous sci-fi/fantasy books. I imagine telling/writing these two stories was quite a different experience, but I’m curious in what way? Do you prefer one genre above the other?

Katee: The write process is completely different for them. With my sci-fi stuff, I have a general story arc and my synopsis has stuff like “chaos ensues” and “bad things happen here—maybe” while my contemporary romances end up plotted out in greater detail.

I love writing them both. The sci-fi is more difficult, if only because I have world-building and fight scenes and politics all balled together. Both series, however, have that thread of zany plot twists and snarky one-liners. I am me, after all. ;)

Stella: Wrong Bed, Right Guy is set around an art gallery; the heroine, the hero and the hero’s brother are interested in art. Is it something you share with them? Do you have a favourite painting/scuplting - painter/sculptor?

Katee: I have a healthy respect for artists (I have NO skills on that level and I’m in awe of people who do), but my interests tend more towards comics. I’m a shameless fan of the T&A covers and someday I’ll get a drawing commissioned from Eric Basaldua. I also love Mike DeBalfo and J. Scott Campbell.

Stella: And now let’s have Couple Therapy:

Stella: If Elle and Gabe had to introduce each other, what 3 words would they use to describe the other?

Elle: Infuriating, sexy, adorable.
Gabe: Funny, those were the words I was going to use.

Stella: What is the quality that they like the most in the other and the one that drives them up the wall?

Elle: I love how single minded he can be when it comes to something he wants. Though that drives me up the wall nearly as much as I love it.

Gabe: Elle’s passion for art—all art. Not so much a fan of when she gets her panties in a twist over silly things like dive bars… but it’s a blast poking at her over it.

Stella: What was their first thought when meeting the other?

Gabe: Holy shit, this is real.

Stella: Was there a specific moment they realized “wow, I just love that person!”?

Katee: The morning after Elle’s allergic reaction is pretty much that for both of them. They open up to each other and actually consider that this might work.

Stella: If you could have your dream cast who would play the characters in Wrong Bed, Right Guy?

Sienna Miller as Elle
Katee: Oh! Okay, let’s see. Elle is always Sienna Miller in my head. Gabe is, of course, Tom Hardy. Roxanne is Anne Hathaway. Ian (who we don’t see in person until the second book) is Jensen Ackles (That family has some GOOD genetics). Nathan is a bit fuzzy in my head (I’m curious as to who people think he looks like).

Stella: Can you tell us any behind the scenes secret related to Wrong Bed, Right Guy? (either to the writing process, or some tidbit about the characters, a scene that didn’t end up in the final version, etc.)

Katee: There was a whole scene where Elle is shopping for the dress she wore in her date with Gabe that I ended up cutting. It was cute, but didn’t really work for the overall plot arc.

Stella: What shall we expect from you, what is next on your schedule?

Katee: This year, I have Come Undone #2 out in October, and an Indulgence called Fool Proof Love out in December.

Stella: Can you share with us some little secret trivia, something that not many people know about you?

Katee: I’m a total tea junkie. I’m currently building up this insano collection of yummy teas. :D

Stella: Ooh a fellow tea-addict, great, a woman after my own heart! :-D

Seducing Mr. Wrong has never felt so right...

Prim and proper art gallery coordinator Elle Walser is no good at seducing men. Heck, she’s been throwing hints at her boss for months, but he’s completely clueless. Desperate to escape her mother’s matchmaking efforts, she comes up with a plan—buy some lingerie and climb into her boss’s bed. The plan goes brilliantly…until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead.

Bad boy nightclub mogul Gabe Schultz just had the best almost-sex of his life. Too bad the smoking hot blonde thought he was his brother and bolted before he could finish what they started. Though her holier-than-thou attitude puts a serious damper on his mood, Gabe’s never been one to give up on something he wants. And he wants Elle. But does a man who lives on the dark side really have a chance with a proper lady?
