Stella: Hi Felicity, welcome back to Ex Libris! Your latest novel Her Demonic Angel was released on September 15, congratulations! Can you tell about the world you have created for the Her Angel series to those readers who aren’t yet familiar with this series of yours?
Felicity: Hi. It’s great to be back here. I’ll try to give everyone the basics on the series and where the idea came from.
The series is following a story arc at the moment that began in the fourth book, which was the first novel. Her Guardian Angel introduced the eternal game between Heaven and Hell, that featured the original angel. Heaven and Hell both have a knight they command in the game, and the hero of Her Guardian Angel is Heaven’s pawn. Veiron, the hero of Her Demonic Angel, is Hell’s pawn and he wants out. In his book, he’s doing all that he can to escape the eternal game and put an end to it to save not only himself but his friends from pain. It’s a huge world, full of males who will do anything to protect the woman they love, and a group of warriors trying to survive a dangerous and turbulent time when everyone’s lives are at stake.
At the moment, I’m offering the first novella in the series for free at selected Amazon Kindle, Apple iBookstores and Kobo Books sites. Readers can find all the links and read a sample of Her Dark Angel HERE.
Stella: Her Demonic Angel is the 5th book in the Her Angel series, now can you tell readers what they can expect of this story?
Felicity: A non-stop thrill ride. This one is extremely full throttle romance with a lot of twists and turns, so readers might want to strap themselves into their chairs.
Her Demonic Angel is the fifth book in my Her Angel romance series, but that doesn’t mean you have to know all the books to understand what happens in it. Readers will definitely get more enjoyment from the book if they’ve read Her Guardian Angel, but it’s not necessary.
Her Demonic Angel is about Veiron, a Hell’s angel who has turned his back on his master and is aiding a couple, Amelia and Marcus, in their quest to end an eternal game that Heaven and Hell is playing with them all. When he’s asked to go into Hell to save the younger sister of Amelia, all he wants to do is say no, but he agrees to give it a shot.
Veiron has a heart of ice and he’s driven by his lust for vengeance against the Devil. He’s focused on that mission and he isn’t about to let anyone sway him from his path, until he meets Erin in Hell. She awakens dangerous feelings in Veiron, thawing the ice around his heart, and he begins an internal battle against the burning desire that ignites between them.
The moment Erin sets eyes on Veiron, she knows that she wants him. As they trek through Hell, she discovers that Veiron is a local and also a fallen angel. It doesn’t change her growing feelings for the lethally sensual warrior. If anything, it only makes her want him all the more. But Veiron is more than just fallen, and he fears that it will come between them because it was Hell’s angels who snatched Erin from her apartment and brought her to the Devil.
Her Demonic Angel is available in ebook from Amazon Kindle, Apple iBookstores, Kobo Books and other retailers. It’s available in paperback from Amazon too. All of the links and an 8 chapter sample download are available on my website.
Stella: Could you introduce the hero and heroine of Her Demonic Angel?
Felicity: I think I’ll hand this over to the characters. Veiron, Erin, would you care to introduce yourselves?
Erin: Ooh, ooh! I want to introduce him… let me. *smiles sweetly* He’s big, immense really… lethally sexy, with wicked scarlet hair and a smile that melts me every time. He has a mean streak, fantastic sense of humour that tickles me, and he’s always so growly and protective. He makes me feel like some sort of princess most days. Very doting and loving.
Veiron: You’re not doing me any favours here, Sweetheart. I sound like a wuss. Can we at least add that I have a short temper and a tendency to grow three feet taller and wider, turn black all over, grow sharp red teeth and huge demonic wings?
Erin: You look hot in your armour too. God… you do look hot in it. *faux purrs*
Veiron: *growls* I’m going to kiss you now. *grabs her and kisses her* I think I should introduce you… artistic, affectionate, and extremely sassy and unpredictable. Dangerous and sexy, and has a tendency to take on the world and leap into things that generally end with me having to protect you. Lover of black and purple, cool dress sense, cute black hair, and serious kicker of butt.
Erin: *blushes* Why thank you, Mr Smexy.
Stella: And now let’s have Couple Therapy: Erin, Veiron, if you had to introduce each other, what 3 words would you use to describe the other?
Veiron: Sassy, compassionate, mine.
Erin: Aww. Veiron is… bad-ass, smexy, and soooo mine.
Stella: What is the quality that you like the most in the other and the one that drives you up the wall?
Veiron: She’s beautifully compassionate. She cares so much about her friends and family. I love that about her, but it drives me crazy too because she tends to have a habit of placing herself in danger to protect those she cares about. So, it’s my good and bad thing about her.
Erin: He has a strong heart… not just physical strength… he’s very affectionate and tender, and really romantic. Not that he would let others see that. He does have one flaw that drives me nuts. He’s stubborn and if I do something wrong, I tend to have to apologise at least three times before it finally sinks in and he forgives me.
Stella: What was your first fight about?
Erin: Does the first time I saw you in your demonic form count as a fight?
Veiron: You beat the crap out of me… I’m counting it.
Erin: I was scared. Demonic angels took me to hell and you could have told me you were like them, but you didn’t. I saw you become like them and I freaked out a little.
Veiron: A little? I refer you back to my earlier statement. You beat the crap out of me.
Erin: I did not. Baby. I punched you a little but I calmed down, and I apologised… three times!
Stella: What was your first thought after meeting each other? And after your first kiss? ;-)
Veiron: Holy shit I’m in trouble now. I think that was my first thought on seeing Erin. I wasn’t looking for someone to fall in love with, but I wanted her the moment I set eyes on her. After our first kiss? I just couldn’t believe that she wanted me too.
Erin: How do I get that six-feet-plus slice of smexy naked? *Veiron raises an eyebrow* What, it’s the truth. I wanted you naked. *grins* After I kissed him? How do I get this six-feet-plus slice of smexy naked? *Veiron laughs*
Veiron: You did get me naked.
Erin: Only for a second. You spoiled it by dressing!
Veiron: You got me naked later. I definitely recall that.
Erin: *blushes* Oh boy, I recall it too. It was worth the wait.
Stella: And now back to Felicity, if you could have your dream cast who would play the characters in Her Demonic Angel?
Felicity: I would want to cast new actors, or people who really looked like the characters. I can’t think of anyone who matches Veiron right now. I would definitely have to hold huge casting calls to find the perfect Veiron and Erin!
Stella: Can you tell us any behind the scenes secret related to Her Demonic Angel? (either to the writing process, or some tidbit about the characters, a scene that didn’t end up in the final version, etc.)
Felicity: It was the first time that I had a real case of the jitters before I began writing it. I was really nervous with this one because everyone had enjoyed Her Guardian Angel so much and I felt there were really high expectations amongst readers, and I feared that I wouldn’t live up to them and give readers what they wanted. I think I was petrified it would be a total failure until I was around 40,000 words into the story, just under a third of the book, and I read it back and my nerves just disappeared. I knew that readers would adore Veiron and Erin, and it gave me the confidence to keep going.
Stella: The title Her Demonic Angel is very ominous and suggestive; can you tell us how you come up with titles for your stories? Is there a process? Some people with whom you bounce around ideas, or how does inspiration strike you? How do you choose which title to give to a story?
Felicity: I don’t tend to put a name to a story until I have it written, or have a good idea of exactly what the story is about. The title usually comes from the story itself, reflecting the book in some way. Sometimes, I have the idea for the title before the book is planned or written. My muse works in mysterious ways like that. It was easier with the Her Angel series because they follow a pattern. It’s a little more difficult now that the series is expanding. I love thinking up titles for my books though. It’s fun to write down lots of titles and see which one fits it the most.
Stella: Besides being an indie, self-published author you are an extremely prolific one. How many stories have you released in 2012 exactly? And how do you do it? Do you ever have writer’s block? Or if not what’s your secret, how do you combat it?
Covet, Crave, Seduce and Enslave. I released the tenth book in my Vampires Realm series: Masquerade. And I released the fifth book in my Her Angel series: Her Demonic Angel.
If I struggle with my writing, it’s normally a sign that I haven’t planned the scene in enough detail. I prefer to plan all my books out in detail before I write them, so I have a complete outline to follow. If I ever stumble, I tend to sit back and plan the scene. If it’s a stumble related to writer’s nerves about the book, I’ll read over what I’ve written to restore my confidence.
Stella: You have written books about vampires, shifters, angels, etc. Do you have a supernatural species that is closer to your heart or that you find just a teeny bit more exciting/irresistible than the others?
Felicity: I can’t resist vampires. They’re my first love. I really like writing shifters, angels, demons, witches, and fae and gods now too, but I’ll always come back to the vampires.
Stella: In your opinion what is it about angels that makes them such irresistible and popular paranormal romance heroes? What is the appeal of an angelic hero?
Felicity: I think a lot of people are attracted to fallen angels because there’s that whole theme of redemption, and women like to have a hero who needs to be redeemed in some way. Most of my angels aren’t fallen, but there is a lot of forbidden love running throughout my series, as well as huge obstacles that the heroine and hero need to overcome to be together.
Stella: How many more books are planned in the Her Angel series? Or is it something that evolves as more and more new characters emerge and demand their story to be told?
Felicity: The Her Angel series is quite free flowing. Originally, it was just going to be the three novellas, but then I had an idea for a novel, so I wrote that, and in that novel I introduced Veiron and the eternal game between Heaven and Hell. I knew then that I had to write his story, and in his book, Her Demonic Angel, I introduced two new angels. I’ll definitely be telling their stories and we’ll see where things go from there.
Stella: What shall we expect from you, what is next on your schedule?
Felicity: I’m working on Bewitch right now, which is the fifth book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series. Once I’ve completed the first draft, I will then be busy planning Unleash, the sixth book, as well as books in the Vampires Realm and Her Angel series. I’m also working on planning a new series that I will be writing for my agent to approach NYC publishers with.
