There are some authors whose books you know will make you smile and sigh with contentment once you reach "The End", and Karen Erickson is one of them. Her stories are always romantic and heart-warming and steamy sexy! *grins* She has penned contemporary romances, erotica stories, romantic suspense, fantasy and paranormal books; she tried her hand at pretty much everything and today she'll tell you her story about how she came to write historical romances, her first love. Please give her a warm welcome and leave a comment to be entered to win Karen's newest release, The Merry Widows Collection!
Congratulations Stella and Happy 3rd Blogoversary! So happy for you—you are such a wonderful supporter of the romance genre and I’m so appreciative for all you do! Thanks for inviting me to the party.
While The Flame and The Flower certainly opened this teenage girl’s eyes to the wondrous world of romance (oh dear), it was The Awakening that created a, well, awakening within the girl. She promptly devoured every Jude Deveraux book she could get her hands on (she still has a particular fondness for the Montgomery series – all twenty bazillion of them). She discovered other authors as well (Judith McNaught, Lavyrle Spencer and Julie Garwood to name a few), and devoured their books as well. She was in seventh heaven, absorbing all of those delicious stories filled with adventure and romance.
And discovered she was a terrible historical romance writer. Awful. She tried her hand at contemporary too and found it much more comfortable but alas, she never finished anything. She also allowed life to get in the way and forgot all about that foolish dream of ever becoming a romance writer…
So when a story idea hit her smack in the nose, she knew she couldn’t ignore it. In fact, she went on to write that historical romance novella in a matter of days. Sold it in a matter of weeks to Carina Press. That little story became Lessons in Indiscretion, the first in her Merry Widows series.
Merry Widows novellas. Imagine the writer’s surprise when she received an email from the executive editor of Carina Press a few months ago saying the publisher was repackaging the Merry Widows series into an anthology. With a new cover and a new release date.
She was thrilled, especially when she saw the new cover! Isn’t it beautiful? She particularly approves of where the man’s hand is (the writer has a bit of a naughty streak) and hopes that readers who haven’t read the Merry Widows series will check out the all new repackaged The Merry Widows Collection (release date of March 15th).
