Today's guest is known to write heart-warming, moving yet chuckle out loud funny contemporary romances, please give the warmest welcome to the wonderful Kristan Higgins, who stops by today to tell you about her latest release The Best Man, and more specifically introduce to you its hero and heroine!

The Best Man by Kristan Higgins

Book #1 in the Blue Heron series

Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she's ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family's vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there's some great scenery there....

Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief-and best friend of her former fiancé. There's a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it's not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she's having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago. If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosÉ, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk...

Heroine: Faith Holland

Jessica Chastain as Faith
Being left at the altar by the man she adored definitely made Faith a little more cynical, especially about lurve…Faith gets her share of attention from men, being that she’s a voluptuous (some say chubby) redhead, but she hasn’t found The One just yet. She comes home to find her beloved dad being pursued by a gold-digger and resolves to find him a lovely woman to date.

When pulled over for speeding by Levi Cooper, the would’ve-been best man (and the guy who ruined her wedding), she has this to say: “You know what I wonder, Levi? Why are some people always such hemorrhoids? You ever wonder that?”

Hero: Levi Cooper

Jeremy Renner as Levi
Once a kid from the wrong side of the tracks, Levi enlisted, served in Afghanistan and comes home to a much different reception than the one he got as a youth. Now the chief of police, he’s not exactly thrilled to have Faith Holland, aka Princess Super-Cute, back in town. Blond hair, green eyes, and a way of looking at Faith that she calls “The Boredom Scale,” Levi’s doing his best to be everyone to everybody, especially his little sister.

When he finds Faith stuck in her attempt to flee a restaurant, he has this to say: “I really have to wonder how climbing out a window seemed like the best decision. Is Jeremy in there?”

Excerpt, in which our heroine is stuck in a window as she tries to leave a restaurant unnoticed by her former fiancé and is reluctantly assisted by Levi.

They were at eye level—well, in Faith’s case, eye and torso level. It looked like she’d been shot through the wall. She was stuck all right. Short of smearing her with butter (Don’t go there, he warned himself), there was no way he was going to be able to do this without touching her. Which was always tricky, if you were the chief of police. Sexual harassment and all that.

“Okay,” he said. “I’ll just…is all right, Faith, if I hold onto your arms and pull you out?”

“Yes! Isn’t it obvious? Were you planning to use the Force instead?”

He cocked an eyebrow. “I think you should be a little nicer, Holland,” he said, “given that I could call the fire department right now. Gerard Chartier lives for this sort of thing. And isn’t your nephew a volunteer?”
