I love, love, love romantic comedies so it was so much fun picking my top ten wedding movies. It was also hard! There are so many fun films to choose from. But a few just really stand out in my mind and so here they are in no particular order.
I love Julia Roberts. I don’t think there’s a movie she’s made that I haven’t enjoyed. And this one with the “if we’re not married by the time we turn 28, we’ll marry each other” friendship bargain, is the perfect set-up for conflict when Michael tells Julianne that he’s getting married right when she realizes she’s in love with him.
I think this romantic comedy adventure is on everyone’s list of favorite movies. We’re all rooting for Buttercup and Westley, and despise Prince Humberdinck. Oh, and I love how the movie unfolds as a story told to a sick boy by his grandfather. Makes me believe in fairy tales. :-)
This is one of those movies I can watch over and over again. And not just because Ryan Reynolds is in it. I love the action-adventure. It’s laugh out loud funny. They’re planning a wedding. (And! KC and the Sunshine Band sing at the rehearsal dinner.) And it’s got Ryan Reynolds. Oh, did I mention that already?
I love best friends to lovers stories. But of course, it can’t be easy. And in this case, when Tom’s best friend Hannah tells him she’s getting married and wants him to be her maid of honor, he of course realizes he wants Hannah for himself. I loved the idea of a male friend being the maid of honor. And I loved that the wedding was taking place in Scotland. But mostly I loved Tom and Hannah together – they were meant to be.
This is the ‘always a bridesmaid never the bride’ story, and I just adored it. It’s funny and romantic and heart wrenching. It’s also the story of a girl, who thinks she’s in love with her Mr. Right, but he’s really Mr. Wrong, and Mr. Right is right under her nose. Love stories like that!
Sandra Bullock. Betty White. Ryan Reynolds. Enough said.
Have you all seen this one? It stars Reese Witherspoon and I love every movie she does, too. It’s a love triangle/reunited lovers story (well technically they’re still married) and it’s one of those feel-good movies that you wish would go on a little longer.
What’s not to love about a wedding singer with a broken heart falling for a waitress with a cheating fiancé? And it’s a blast to the past, taking place in the 1980’s, which makes it even more fun to watch the deepening feelings develop between Robbie (played by Adam Sandler) and Julia (played by Drew Barrymore.)
This is one of those crazy, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants movies. Flying to Vegas (I love Vegas!) to marry his girlfriend before guilt eats at him for going against his dying mother’s wish to never marry, Jack (Nicholas Cage) loses a bet—and his fiancé (Sarah Jessica Parker) before they can say I do. All ends happy, of course, but on the way to HEA, there’s Hawaii (I love Hawaii!) and skydiving Elvises. :-D
I have such fond memories of this movie! This movie is probably the most wedding-ish as it centers on the extravagant wedding plans and a father’s coming to terms with losing his daughter. Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are brilliant as usual.
So there you have it. My picks for best wedding movies. Now it’s your turn! What’s one of your favorite wedding films?

Kissing her best friend's brother never felt so right...
Sela Sullivan is resolved to be the best maid of honor ever, even if it means tolerating the best man. Positive he’s the same arrogant jock, Sela vows to focus on her duties and steer clear of the frustrating—and frustratingly tempting—Luke.
As a world-renowned extreme-sports photographer, Luke is used to undertaking life-risking adventures. But risking his heart for the beautiful Sela Sullivan, who clearly still hates him for his rejection all those years ago? He didn’t see that coming.
