Let It Snow Books: Interview with Katie McGarry + Giveaway

I always love sitting down in the end of each year and think back of all the great books I read. Of all those books I will re-read in a heartbeat and their authors whose work I can't help but admire. Well, for me, for the second year in a row, one of those authors is Katie McGarry! I just love her voice and her stories to pieces! So, let's welcome her once more and talk a bit about the holidays :)

Hello Katie and welcome to this year's Let It Snow Books event!
Q: Let it Snow Books is all about the Best Books we read throughout 2013! Could you please share with us a few of your favorite titles for this year?

Katie: Oh, I have read so many amazing books this year! My favorites would be:

Q: How would Beth and Ryan, your main characters in Dare You To, choose to spend their holidays this year?

Katie: Would you believe that this is the first year that Beth’s ever decorated a tree? When Ryan finds this out it’s totally game on. She won’t just be decorating the Christmas tree at her Uncle Scott’s house this year. Ryan and his friends are getting together and will have Beth decorating the trees at each one of their houses. For five nights straight, Beth will be knee deep in Christmas cheer at Scott’s house followed by Ryan’s, Chris’s, Lacy’s, and then finally Logan’s.

Q: If you had the chance, what would you gift Noah, Beth and Isaiah?

Katie: I would love to give them time together. Just them. Nobody else. The three of them have been through a lot this year. There have been a ton of changes in their lives and I’d love for them to have a moment to reflect and strengthen their friendship.

Q: What's your favorite thing about the holidays?

Katie: I love spending time with my family. We play lots of card and board games and I also love the big family gatherings where we laugh and catch up.

Q: What's one of the best gifts you ever received for Christmas?

Katie: I have received a lot of things that I love over the years, but my favorite as a child was a homemade Cabbage Patch Kid. I wanted a Cabbage Patch Kid so badly that I was in pain. My parents couldn’t afford one so they had someone make a knock off for me. I couldn’t have loved a present more. It didn’t matter to me that it wasn’t the real deal. I loved it as if it was. I dragged that doll around for years. In fact, I still own it.

Q: And now what's the best gift you ever gave to someone for Christmas?

Katie: I gave my fiancée (who is my husband now) a box that contained a map of the US, a dart, and a compass. We were in a position where we had a lot of job offers and we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do with our lives and also where we would be doing it. The gift was to represent that I was excited for my new adventure with him.

Q: You're holiday shopping, name a few things you'll buy this year.

Katie: Pillow Pets.

Thank you Katie for stopping by and Happy Holidays!

Dare you To

by Katie McGarry

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all....

KATIE MCGARRY was a teenager during the age of grunge and boy bands and remembers those years as the best and worst of her life. She is a lover of music, happy endings, and reality television, and is a secret University of Kentucky basketball fan.
