Reading Habits

You know I love to learn random trivia about fellow friends, bloggers, readers, so I thought in case you are curious, here is a little bit about me:

(Saw this at the Book Vixen)

Chocolate chip cookies
Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack? Not usually since I mostly read on the commute to and from work, but if I do read at home I like to munch on cookies or other sweet treats :-)

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you? Oh no! The blasphemy! I never write in books even with pencils, so that's another reason why I love my Kindle so much, since I can make annotations (comes in handy when I'm writing up reviews later) there without harming the book.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Bookmarks! Never dog-ear a book, same thing as writing in them: blasphemy! ;-) However, I tend to use everything I can get my hands on as bookmark: receipt, postcard or clothing tag.

Laying the book flat open? No, it will damage the spine. One of my superpowers is being able to read 1300+ page-long books (Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, I'm looking at you..) without breaking their spines.

Fiction, Non-fiction, or both? 99% fiction. I sometimes read textbook/casebooks for work and some cookbooks as well.

Hard copy or audiobooks? Ebook. I haven't gotten the knack for audiobooks yet, I find I'm not captivated enough to listen, I need to see the words myself.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point? End of the chapter usually. Or if I can't read until then (=arrived at work, etc.) I have to leave off wherever I am at that moment.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? Before my Kindle I skipped, sometimes made lists and when I got a bunch I looked them up all at once. With my Kindle I can use the built-up dictionary whenever I'm curious. Love that feature!

What are you currently reading? The Duke's Match Girl by Lila DiPasqua

What is the last book you bought? A cookbook: The Sweet Book of Candy Making by Elizabeth Labau

Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time? Depends, usually just one, but there were times when I had a book besides my bed, one near the couch and in my bag for travels.

Do you have a favourite time of day and/or place to read? Late morning when it's sunny in my big armchair near the windows in my veranda-like living room. Usually noone is at home at that time of the day. Well me either, since I'm usually at work, so I guess part of its charm is that it happens on days off.

Do you prefer series books or stand alone books? Series! When I like something I want more of it :-)

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over? Erin Nicholas, Robin Bielman, Victoria James, Heather Snow,

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?) Ugh, I have too many books for organization. At the beginning I had a system: by genres and series, but after that I just put books where I find room for them.

ETA: lol, I just noticed I took this survey back in 2010, so if you want to see my answers back then and if I changed in any ways check it out here.
