Hi, all! Jennifer here.
As a writer I find it very difficult to write to music. I need SILENCE to think and make sure the conversation flow is just right. But that's just me. J
However, editing is a totally different beast.
Editing is when I layer the emotion, or the humor, or the heart into a story. The basic story is there on paper, but it needs "prettying up". So it really does help to listen to certain songs while I'm doing that.
Music can be a very powerful tool. It can evoke a memory or even mood. It helps me to then transfer that feeling into my writing.
As I edited Fiancé by Fate, I had different Music Channels on, trying to capture a feeling to put on paper. Sometimes a song would play and I would think, "This is perfect for this scene! Oh my gosh, I need to hear it again!"
Every time that happened, I would write the song down and before I knew it, I had an actual playlist that I could go back to whenever I continued to edit that book.
Interested to know what songs inspired me the most? "Black Sheep" by Gin Wigmore totally reminded me of Jack! And I felt Sabrina started out really confused so I loved Beck's "Lost Cause" when I was writing her scenes.
Check out my playlist on YouTube:
And yes, there is most definitely an ABBA song on there, courtesy of my hero, Jack. But you'll have to read the book to find out why!

She writes sweet romances (some even funny!) and won third place in the RWA 2006 NYC's Kathryn Hayes Love and Laughter Contest with her first book, The Role of a Lifetime. Recently, her novel Sunny Days for Sam won the 2013 Golden Quill Published Authors Contest for Best Traditional Romance.
Lately she's been on a serious exercise kick. But don't hold that against her.

He has to convince his father—and his company’s board—that he’s ready to settle down if he wants a promotion. But convincing Sabrina to be his fake girlfriend turns out to be the easiest part. What he didn’t count on was their intense attraction and how easily their lie would escalate. Sabrina’s still hung up on her ex, and Jack will never settle down. But fate has other ideas…
