Spotlight on Urban Fantasy: Fantastic UF series you should check out - Guest post by Steph from Paper Cut Reviews

Tonight I have another guest I would like you to welcome to Ex Libris: she is one of the kindest and most creative bloggers out there (she has so many amazing initiative and projects on how to enhamce relationship between bloggers, it seems she is a bottomless well of these ideas :-p lol), she is the creator of BBA (Book Bloggers Anonymous) and of the Traveling Book Gnome movement amongst others.

So please give a warm welcome to Steph, an amazing friend and super nice blogger who is here to recommend us some of her favourite UF series.

Hi everyone! I want to thank the lovely Stella for letting me do a guest post on her fantastic blog! Welcome to Stella's Spolight on Urban Fantasy week! I will be chatting about all the reasons why I simply adore the Urban Fantasy Genre. Well for starters UF novels are a sub category of the Fantasy genre mostly having to do with an urban setting with a supernatural element. I would also say that Urban Fantasy books have a grittier feel to them then PR books and also I feel have more action! Don't get me wrong I love a good Paranormal Romance but I'm just more intrigued by the Urban Fantasy genre. My Favorite UF books are the Sabina Kane Series by Jay Wells, Dreg City Series by Kelly Meding and the Elemental Assassin Series by Jennifer Estep. All three of these series are absolutely fantastic with a story that will transform you into their mystical urban world!

In the Sabina Kane series which include Red-Headed Step Child *book 1* and The Mage in Black *book 2* you have a half Vampire half Mage Assassin Sabina Kane who finds herself thrown into a world of deceit by the only family she knew while chaos waits for her after every corner. This is definitely a great series for you Demon,Vamp, Mage and Bad Ass Female Protagonist fans out there who at times enjoy a chuckle from the comedic relief Giguhl *Sabina's Demon buddy*. I Love this series and can't wait for book three to get released Green Eyed Demon!

Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane)  The Mage in Black (Sabina Kane)  Green-Eyed Demon (Sabina Kane)

Another great UF series is the Dreg City series by Kelly Meding which include Three Days to Dead *book 1* and As Lie the Dead *book 2*. This series is about a resurrected from the dead Bounty Hunter named Evangeline Stone *love that name btw* who finds herself in a cold morgue in the body of a suicide victim. Now she must find out who killed her and why is everyone trying to kill her again before the spell wears off in only three days! Talk about pressure huh! This series has a mixture a supernatural creatures such as gargoyles, trolls, gnomes, goblins, vamps shape shifters and more that make this gritty UF and great read.

Three Days to Dead   As Lie the Dead (Dreg City, Book 2)

The third UF series I will talk about is the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep which include Spider Bites *book 1*, Web of Lies *book 2*, Venom *book 3* and soon to be released Tangled Threads *book 4*. This series is about a no nonsense assassin for hire Gin Blanco *Spider* who has an elemental stone ability. She take her job seriously and has no problem killing those who deserve it even will do it "pro bono". As the series progresses Gin finds herself learning more about her past which could lead to a dangerous road good thing she is use to danger;) You will enjoy this fast paced gritty UF series with it's mixed supernatural creatures like giants, vamps, dwarves and elementals that will keep you turning the pages very late at night.

Okay I shared with you three series that I enjoy and hopefully you will also enjoy them and maybe get hooked into this new world of Urban Fantasy. Come on give it a try;)

Thank you and Happy Reading!

Steph
