I love adventure-action movies with a romantic storyline and what I love even more are thrilling, action packed, mysterious secret society unrevealing adventure novels! Recently I discovered a fantastic novel by a new to me author: The Paris Secret by Angela Henry. Not only is it a novel full of nail-biting action and thrilling mysteries, but besides the potent chemistry between the hero and the heroine, it gave a wonderful virtual tour of Paris, bringing the city to my living room. It is a highly enjoyable novel, one I truly recommend.

So I was very happy when Angela Henry accepted my invitation to come and talk to you, please give her a warm welcome!

I’ll Take My Adventure With A Side of Romance!
by Angela Henry

I’ve always been a sucker for action adventure. I adore James Bond and Jason Bourne and I thought the novel The Da Vinci Code was unputdownable. The only thing that makes action adventure books/movies even better is a great romance. There’s nothing more appealing than a hot romance developing in the midst of danger between two people thrown together by circumstance. In my opinion, sexual tension between the hero and heroine, added to edge of your seat thrills, just makes everything that much more exciting. Here is a list of some of my favorites.

Foul Play - For me this is the movie that started my love of adventure romances with a San Francisco librarian, a bumbling cop, danger, suspense and a plot to kill the pope. I was hooked!

Romancing the Stone - Based on the novel of the same name, a romance writer finds romance, danger and adventure when she goes to Colombia to ransom her kidnapped sister. I knew when Jack Colton cut the high heels off Joan Wilder’s expensive Italian shoes that I was going to love this movie.

The Mummy - Since I work in a library, I’m a complete sucker for librarian heroines and the Mummy doesn’t disappoint with romance, adventure, an ancient curse, an evil mummy, and lots of sand. This movie has it all!

True Lies - Though this one features a married couple, it doesn’t skimp on the thrills and sexual tension in this tale of a bored wife having an affair who discovers her husband is really a spy. The scene where Helen Tasker, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, pretends to be a hooker is one of the best.

The Bourne Identity - I’ve never read any of Robert Ludlum’s Bourne novels. But I sure love the movies. Romance isn’t the main focus of this movie but there’s still a great romance between amnesiac Jason Bourne and Marie, a woman he meets at the US embassy, as well as one of the most memorable car chase scenes through Paris.

The African Queen - Though the novel by C. S. Forester is much different from the movie adaptation starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn; this is a classic example of two people who find love amidst the dangers of World War I.

Knight and Day - Tom Cruise may not have the star power he once had but I still enjoyed this movie of Roy, a spy on the run, and, June, the unsuspecting garage owner who unwittingly gets involved with him after meeting him in the airport.
