My Favourite LOTU Couples - Guest post by Ash from Smash Attack Reads! + Giveaway

As you know in March the Book Bloggers Anonymous are discussing The Darkest Night (Book #1 in the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter) at the BBA Goodreads Group all through March, swing by and join us.

Today I have another special guest: Ash from Smash Attack Reads! I've been a longtime follower and fan of Ash's blog, but I just recently discovered that Ash is a big LOTU fan, so I invited her to tell us all about her favourite LOTU couples. Read on, i'm for one am completely sold and can't wait to read The Darkest Passion! :-p

Please give Ash a warm welcome!

A big thanks to Stella and her book lovin’ junkies for inviting me to participate in spreading the Gena Showalter love! I got on the Gena train a bit late in the game and I’ve only read the Lords of the Underworld series. However, what a series it is! Gena is full of awesome. Her writing is fun and witty, she writes action and emotion well, she has a great imagination with her plot developments, and, let’s face it, can write the hell out of a sex scene!

So, let’s gush about some LOTU characters, shall we? (SPOILER ALERT)

The Darkest Kiss (Hqn)My first favorite couple in the series would have to be Lucien and Anya. Lucien is the Keeper of Death and charged with transporting souls to their proper resting place. I can’t imagine what a hellish (no pun intended) job this must be for someone to deal with. In the opening of the series, The Darkest Night, Lucien is charged with transporting Maddox’s soul to Hell every night. Your heart bleeds for this man instantly. You also learn that the myriad of scars that he has on his body were self-inflicted, but why…?

Anya is the goddess of Anarchy, a small-timer in the grand scheme of things, but a goddess nonetheless. As her name suggest, she is full of mayhem, trickery, disorder, and well, anarchy. She is, by far, one of the funniest, snarkiest, wittiest female characters I’ve ever read. She has some of the best lines in the entire series, and her banter with William, an immortal frienemy, is worth its weight in gold! Lucien tries to keep his stoic demeanor around Anya, but who is he kidding?

From the very beginning of The Darkest Kiss, Anya is stalking Death, and she wants him. Bad. Lucien’s scars are dead sexy in her eyes, and are dead sexy in my eyes, too! She encounters him in a nightclub, and does her best to seduce him with some sexy moves. Is Death seducible…?
"Apparently, dancing for him and throwing herself at him weren't enough. Apparently, she had to nearly commit murder to arouse him enough to attack her."

Well, Lucien certainly makes Anya work for it, but it is one of the reasons I love the couple so much. They push each other, all the while ensuring that the other is very aware of their vast importance. And seriously, their lovemaking is incredible!
"He bit the inside of his cheek, Death purring wildly. The pleasure of her touch, even one so innocent, rocked him to the core."

The Darkest Passion (Hqn)
My second favorite couple is Aeron and Olivia. In my eyes, Aeron is the most interesting Lord. He is the Keeper of Wrath, so naturally, his demon wants to make people pay for their wrongdoings. So, poor Aeron keeps to himself most of the time so he doesn’t have to deal with the bloodlust that overcomes him when Wrath demands to be unleashed. As with all the Lords, he is a tortured soul and has tattooed his body to remind himself of all the death he has delivered on Wrath’s behalf. In his eyes, Aeron is nothing short of a monster. With giant wings.

Olivia, on the other hand, is an angel. Literally. She was sent to kill Aeron but finds herself disobeying the order, and falls from grace instead. She is a newbie to life on Earth, so watching her get her “land legs” is quite humorous. She is pure of heart and so down to earth (no pun intended) that you want her to be your best friend. Her awkward, stubborn yet sweet personality makes her a favorite of mine.

Aeron holds a special place in my heart. I’m a sucker for tortured souls, and he has been dealt a whammy. While he is bitter and not the most kind man in the room, my heart is forever touched by his story. I’m amazed at his ability to withstand some of Wrath’s demands, and endure the bloodlust for so long, with no release. How does this man remain sane? Olivia does her best to attract Aeron’s attention, to only find her attempts blocked at every turn. What finally grabs Aeron’s attention? As with all the women in the LOTU world, Olivia eventually tames the demon within the man.

Thank you Ash, wow I for one cannot wait to read Olivia and Aeron's story it sounds irresistible I love these beauty and the beast settings and my heart goes out to poor Aeron, Olivia as a gentle sweet angel might be just what he needs. Want it, want it! :-))
