Best Books of 2011

2011 has come to an end, so it's time for me again to tell you about my favourite reads of the past year. I discovered some incredibly talented new authors who shot to my must-buy-list, and continued to read books in some beloved series. One thing they all have in common is that they all made me laugh, smile, cry, and close the book with a contented sigh (except when I grumbled that I have to wait an eternity until the next book ;-)  They were all amazing, so if you haven't read them yet, it's time to put them on your to-read-in-2012 list, who knows, maybe they'll end up on your Best of 2012 list ;-)

Here are my top reads of 2011 in no particular order:

Best urban fantasy novels

Master and Apprentice by Sonya Bateman
My review - Amazon

I LOVE Sonya Bateman's Gavyn Donatti's series and was looking forward to Book #2 Master and Apprentice and I am happy to say it lived up to my impossibly high expectations. A gem of a series you MUST discover!

The Secret McQueen series by Sierra Dean

Book #0.5: The Secret Guide to Dating Monsters

Book #1: Something Secret This Way Comes

Book #2: A Bloody Good Secret

Book # 2.5: Secret Santa

Sierra Dean is a brand new UF author I discovered this past year and I came to love her  Secret McQueen series with unabashed fangirl enthusiasm. It is kickass, funny and sexy, everything you'd want from a great UF series!

The Shifters series by Rachel Vincent

I discovered Rachel Vincent's series this year and fell in love with the world and the characters she created! When I read Stray I lived and breathed the Shifters series for weeks, I gobbled up the next 2 books within a week, and even though I still have 3 more books to read I'm already getting teary eyed if I think about the fact that in 3 books the series will come to an end. I don't want this series to end! :-( *sniff* The best of the best! :-D

Best contemporary romance novels

All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins
My Review - Amazon

I discovered Kristan Higgins a bit late, only last year, but oh my, after I read All I Ever Wanted there was no turning back! She became one of my favourite contemporary romance authors, her stories are incredibly emotional and heartwarming.

Carnal Secrets by Nadia Lee
My review - Amazon

Nadia Lee is another brand new author I discovered in 2011 and I thank the stars for that ever since! To this day I have read 3 novels of hers and they all got 5 stars and became favourite reads! Carnal Secrets not only became a favourite read of 2011 but of all time! If you are not a fan of Nadia yet, you mustn't waste any more time, check out her books now!

Deadly Descent
My review - Amazon

I have to thank Kaylea Cross and her stunning story Deadly Descent for making me discover the military romance genre, thank you, I am so grateful! :-)

Good Girls Don't by Victoria Dahl

My first Victoria Dahl novel, but definitely not the last. Enjoyed it a lot thanks to her funny and fresh writing. I can't wait to read the next two books in the series!

The Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis

Book #1: Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis
My review - Amazon

I was once again a bit late in discovering this adorable small town romance by Jill Shalvis, and what a wonderful series it is! And Simply Irresistible is the perfect holiday romance: it is heart-warming, it is sexy and most of all chuckle out loud funny! A terrific series I can only recommend!!

Book #2: The Sweetest Thing

Best historical romance novels

Silk Is For Seduction by Loretta Chase

I have heard Loretta Chase's name being mentioned as the Queen of historical romance but I only got to read my first book from her this year. Silk Is For Seduction completely blew me away and she instantly became an auto-buy author for me. If you haven't yet had the pleasure to read a novel by Loretta Chase, trust me when I say, you absolutely have to!

What I Did for a Duke by Julie Anne Long
My reviewAmazon

I discovered Julie Anne Long's Pennyroyal Green series thanks to What I Did for a Duke, which I loved so much that since then I started collecting the whole series! ;-)

Taken by Desire by Lavinia Kent

Lavinia Kent is another terrific historical romance author I discovered, her stand alone full length novels as well as her Real Duchesses series are both wonderful. Sensual and witty, I just love her writing!

Best erotica novels

Learning Curves by Elyse Mady
My reviewAmazon

Learning Curves was one of those stories which gave you goosebumps, made you sweat and pant, i.e. the best kind of shiver inducing erotica!

The Pet Shop by K.D. Grace
My review - Amazon

I don't think any erotica story shook me up so much (in a good way) as The Pet Shop. It was like a force of nature. A very unusual but incredibly powerful and hot read!

So these were the books I enjoyed the most this year, which books made it to your Best of 2011 List?
