Who is Alice Wade?

I graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Psychology. I am a Marketing Professional by day, writer by night and have devoted myself to using the written word to motivate emotional responses. With my writing, I’ve proven that anything is possible if you just try, as evident by the accomplishments to date. I have written a total of nine novels, three of which are being published with Eternal Press. Talon (April 2012) is a Paranormal Romance and will be the first to release. This is followed by two books in the Flame Thrower Saga: Flame Thrower (May 2012) and A Jewel of the Kingdom (TBD), both books are Romantic Fantasy. I’ve also got one more novel (Gem) in the works and the chapters can be found on my website. I live in California with my two step daughters, two boxer dogs and a very supportive husband.

Talon by Alice Wade
(COMING April 7, 2012)

Vampires only fear one name -- Talon. The elven prince and his mate, Kailani, have made it their mission to hunt down the violent vampire covens that have been destroying hundreds of innocent lives in their pursuit of selfish and depraved entertainment. Their strategy would have been fool-proof, except for one problem: Talon and Kailani are vampires too.

But when they enter a castle overrun, they realize they are out of their league. The vampire leader has stolen elven magic, something Talon takes personally and can’t fight alone. This sets them on a path of redemption, destruction and closure. Along the way, they pair up with two humans who are destined to become the family Talon craves.

Piecing the story together was like a puzzle…

Writing Talon was a puzzle, one that was complicated and crazy. Talon was written with three unique story arcs that are woven through the entire novel. Each one is a fully functional problem that ultimately gets resolved by the climax. It was at times frustrating to make it all fit. How many times have you sat before a jig saw and tried to shove in one piece when you knew it didn’t fit? I too had the same feeling. Eventually, I found a way though, given some patience and creativity, but it all fits now.

So, what are these story arcs?

First off, there is the title character’s storyline, focusing on Talon and his road to redemption regarding this exile. He struggles with missing his homeland, but clings only to the love of his mate Kailani for comfort. He is willing to endure anything to ensure he has her in his life, and that is a bitter lesson that is delivered throughout the novel. But he is not ruined, far from it; for I weave in that underneath his bravado, Talon’s loneliness drives him to unconsciously find a way to repair what was ripped away with his exile. Through this book, he finds what he’s searching for through random circumstance and is forced to take calculated risks in protecting what he feels is his.

The second arc is with a human turned vampire and how she navigates this with the Dace, the man she was engaged to marry before it happened. In this storyline, you meet an overconfident woman who has everything she holds dear ripped from her in one stupid act of her arrogance. From start to finish you learn who she is, how she battles with rejection and ultimately reclaiming the one true love she thought she lost forever. Lainey was a difficult character to write, Dace was even harder, mostly because these two had to find balance. But I feel I found it with what I’ve written though.

The final arc is the one that is the dark vein in the novel, for it involves Kaen, the deranged vampire who is also the leader of the Dûr Falas. Driven by a burning need to dominate and rule a kingdom where he could have an endless supply to his cruel entertainments, he embarks on a plan to worm his way into the royal house. His journey has him cross paths with Talon, setting things into motion he wasn’t quite prepared for. In doing so, thrusts him into an unexpected relationship with the Crown Princess Deandra and unveils his plan. His arc takes him from devious planning through bitter frustration to desperation.

And how does this fit together?

With magic! (evil laugh) You will have to read the book to see, but each arc flows in and out of each other, weaving a strong story line that is engaging, emotion (and yes, you will need a tissue) and at times make you so angry you curse some of the characters for the fools they are being. What holds it all together is love, romance and honor, though. That is my solemn promise you as the author and I hope you will not be disappointed.

But I want to hear from you on whether I was right or not. I’ve included the link to my author/book page on Eternal Press to make it easier on your to find Talon.
