Interview with Lia and Luc
by Nina Croft
Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire, I think it’s fair to say the Luc and Lia did not always behave as expected. So today, I thought I’d ask them a few questions and see just how close they came to blowing it all.
Q: Welcome Luc and Lia. So, from the title of the book, I’m guessing that your relationship was not always smooth sailing. Just how did the blackmail part come about?
Lia: He pretended to be a knight in shining armor; he rescued me, then he seduced me, and then he blackmailed me.
Luc (smiling): You were very easy to seduce.
Lia (scowling): Only because I let you.
Q: So Lia, exactly what did you need rescuing from?
Lia: Well, I might have been a little impetuous…
Luc: Just a little?
Lia: Okay a lot impetuous. But I needed to find my father and the only contact I had was a man called Harley Watson who ran a club in London.
Luc: A strip club.
Lia: Well I didn’t know that at the time. Anyway, Harley was suggesting that I might want to demonstrate my suitability for a position in his club.
Luc: His strip club.
Lia (rolls eyes): And Luc saved me. Except, he didn’t really, because it was all a set up. Luc and Harley are best buddies really.
Q: Lia, what was your first impression of Luc?
Luc (expression of disbelief): Normal? A relief?
Lia: Anyway, the normal thing lasted for about ten seconds. Then I got a good look and wow—he was just the most beautiful man I had ever seen—not that I usually notice such things. Then he shook my hand and zap. And as the jolt ran through me, I had a brief suspicion that he might be even more dangerous than Harley. And that was before he blackmailed me!
Q: What about you, Luc? What did you first notice about Lia?
Luc: Legs. I don’t want to come across as shallow here, but she was wearing this really short dress, and she has the most amazing legs. Then I saw her eyes. She has her father’s eyes, and Jimmy Brent was never my favorite person or even close. But at least that made it easier to reconcile what I was going to do.
Q: And what was that?
Luc: Seduce her into helping me find Jimmy Brent. I hadn’t thought about the blackmail bit right then—that came to me later, when I began to suspect that she might be totally treacherous, just like her father.
Q: So it wasn’t love at first sight then? When did you know that Lia was the one?
Luc: I’m not sure when I knew, but I began to suspect that there was something not right the first night in my apartment. I loathe Jimmy Brent, he’s pure evil, and Lia was supposed to be nothing more than a means to an end, a way to find Jimmy. Instead, I began to wish that she wasn’t treacherous, that she wasn’t anything to do with Jimmy—that we could have a normal relationship. Of course that might have had something to do with the fact that I was as hot and hard as hell—and right then she didn’t seem to like me very much.
Q: And you Lia?
Lia: What? When did I realize there was more to Luc than a blackmailing bastard? Hmm, I guess when I met his cat. I mean a man that has a cat can’t be all bad, however hard he’s trying to make out that he is.
Q: Best quality?
Luc: Can I say ‘legs’ again? Only kidding. Integrity, I think.
Lia: Well it’s not his legs—though they’re pretty nice. Maybe it’s his eyes—they still send shivers through me. Really though, I guess it’s the fact that he had a tough start in life and he makes out like he’s such badass, but underneath, he’s just a really sweet guy.
Q: Aww! And Luc’s worst quality?
Lia: He always thinks he’s right.
Luc: I always know I’m right—there’s a difference.
Q: And one final question. Did you know Luc was a billionaire at the time you fell for him? Come on, just how much did his money play in the attraction? After all, it was because you needed money that led you to meet him in the first place.
Lia: You mean, was I influenced by the fact that he has a penthouse, a plane, and a few racehorses? Nah—not at all… Now, the private island hideaway—that might be another thing entirely.
And on that note, to finish, a question for the readers: nobody likes a mercenary heroine, but obviously a lot of us are attracted to billionaires. So what is it about a billionaire that makes him so sexy? Let me know for a chance to win an ecopy of Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire.
Seduction by any means necessary…
Olivia Brent is happy with her quiet life in the country, until the imminent loss of her home forces her to embark on a search for her estranged father. Catapulted into a world of criminals and totally out of her depth, Olivia is rescued by the stunningly gorgeous and enigmatic billionaire Luc Severino.
Luc has never considered himself a knight in shining armor, and if he had been, then Jimmy Brent’s daughter was the last person he would choose to rescue. But Olivia is the key to finding her father, and Luc is willing to use any methods available, including blackmail, to persuade Olivia to help him find Jimmy and finally put the past behind him.
And if blackmail doesn’t gain her total cooperation, then perhaps a little seduction will…
