Guest post & interview with Eden Baylee + Giveaway

Serendipitous Encounters
by Eden Baylee

I’m very happy to be on Stella’s Ex Libris site to talk about my latest book, Spring into Summer — a book of four erotic novellas, two that take place in the spring and two in the summer.

I’ve written often about serendipity in my writing life, and I consider my connection to Stella a fortunate one. Like me, she loves to travel, speaks multiple languages, and enjoys experiencing different cultures. Stella is one of the many great people I’ve met via social media with whom I share common interests. Oh, and let’s not forget our love for books as well!

In my anthology, I have serendipitous encounters in each of my stories, but none more apparent than in my second novella “Unlocking the Mystery.” It’s a story about Evelyn, a strong-willed woman who has created a life, which guarantees her financial independence, yet isolates her emotionally from meaningful relationships. She moves into an historic mansion that once housed Josephine Crabtree, a famous entertainer who died in the 1940s. It’s not long after moving in when she feels haunted by ghosts.

Evelyn’s journey to find what she’s been missing in her life intersects with a woman who is no longer living. The answers begin to unravel when she delves into a mysterious gift left behind for her by the home’s previous owner.

Set in the land of poets, Evelyn will discover the deepest secrets of a woman she never met, and a man she’s only seen in her dreams.

If you’d like to read “Unlocking the Mystery” and the other stories in my book, I’d be thrilled if you picked up a copy.

Stella, thank you for offering me a space to guest blog on your site. I really appreciate it.

And now for a quick Q&A with Eden:

Stella: Your anthology includes two novellas for Spring and two for Summer. Why these seasons?

Eden: Spring into Summer is the companion piece to my first book, Fall into Winter which released Feb. 2011.

Stella: When you hear/think of spring/summer, what do you think of? Is it flowers blossoming fresh grass or beachy vacations and BBQs?

Eden: Spring is a season of birth and beginnings. To me, it signifies optimism and the hope for fresh starts. Flowers are always a part of it, and thus I put one of my favorite flowers on the book cover.

Summer is my favorite season because I'm a lover of the heat. Going to the beach or kayaking on a lake are two activities I enjoy doing. BBQs are always wonderful!

Stella: Could you please share with us a bit more about yourself and the inspiration for your book(s)?

Eden: I'm a Canadian full-time writer. I left my banking career after twenty years and decided to pursue my dream of becoming an author. That was Jan. 2010, and I haven't looked back.

When I initially set out to write, I had wanted to sell each of my novellas to individual publishers. Though the publishers liked the stories, they wanted me to change things I was unwilling to do. I'm really happy I got rejected because it pushed me to go out on my own. I packaged my stories into an anthology because it was the best way to expose readers to my writing. It worked. I was able to establish an audience, do a successful book launch, and write my second book.

I always knew I'd complete the seasons with 8 stories in 2 books. Just call me the Vivaldi of erotica! :-)
