Character Interview with Theresa Meyers + Giveaway

To start the day I have a special treat for you: the lovely Theresa Meyers stopped by Ex Libris to celebrate the release of The Chosen, the 3rd book in her Legend Chronicles series, and she has brought the Jackson brothers with herself! I haven't had the chance to read this series yet, but it is on my immediate To-Be-Read list and I have the books on my shelves. I mean some exciting steampunk romance with these amazing covers? I can't wait!! So please give Theresa and Colt, Winchester and Remington a warm welcome and don't forget to enter the giveaway at the end! :-)

Thanks for the invite to your party! While waiting to pop open a bottle of bubbly in celebration of this blog’s third blogoversary and the release of the third book, The Chosen, in steampunk paranormal romance Legend Chronicles series, I sat down to have a talk with the three Jackson brothers—Colt, Winchester and Remington.

What was it like growing up in a family dedicated to hunting paranormal creatures?

Remington: Scary. Damn Scary. It’s one thing to have nightmares as a child and another to realize the nightmares are flesh, blood and bone and out to kill you.

Colt: I didn’t think much of it until a demon tried to drown me.

Winchester: *snort* That’s only because you were never in the life until you were a teenager. Let me just say, it ain’t for regular folk. No little kid should be expected to know how to reload bullets at three and shoot by age six, but our pa didn’t have much choice. He knew we’d need to defend ourselves.

Why did your father break up the Book of Legend in the first place?

Remington: That’s not entirely accurate. Pa didn’t break up the Book. That was done more than a thousand years ago by three brothers who ensured the pieces were separated and hidden to protect them.

Winchester: Remy’s right on that. Pa only hid his part of the Book of Legend that was handed down to the line of Lions within the Legion of Hunters.

Colt: Hell, if pa had been the one to break it up we would have pulled it together a lot sooner without needed to bother making deals with Darkin to get to it.

What do you think will happen once the Book of Legend is reunited?

Colt: If the prophecy is right, then the Chosen, that’s us, we’ll be able to close the Gates of Nyx and keep Rathe from ending the world.

Winchester: If the prophecy is right, and if we happen to be the Chosen, then it’s gonna be one hell of a fight with decent Darkin and Hunters on one side and Rathe and his toadies on the other.

Remington: Something this significant can’t occur without there being substantial collateral damage on both sides. My prediction is at worst, the world will end. At best, we live through it, hopefully intact.

Did any of you ever think you’d fall for a Darkin?

Colt: *gives a big grin* I didn’t have to think. It just kind of happened.

Winchester: *pulls the waxed tip of his mustache* I never thought it would happen because it was something pa beat into us from such a young age. But knowledge ain’t everything. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut. And in my gut I knew pairing up with the contessa was the right thing to do.

Remington: *tugs at the cuffs of his shirt* I hardly think one can anticipate such a hard reversal of opinion. But circumstances produce the strangest of bedfellows.

How has being a hunter made you a better man?

Colt: *winks* I was good to begin with.

Winchester: *punches Colt in the shoulder* You’d best watch yourself little brother. That mellon of yours gets any bigger your hat ain’t gonna fit.

Remington: *lips twitch* I don’t know that hunting has made any of us better or worse, but it has certainly put our loyalty and dedication to the test.

This one’s for Colt and Remington; How have you two come to terms with China McGee?

Colt: *glances at Remington and grins* You wanna answer that one?

Remington: *shifts uncomfortably in chair* No comment.

Alright then, one last question. Now that you’ve found your Darkin mates, do you think you’ll settle down?

Colt: I don’t think Lilly is really the type to settle much. I think there’s a lot of adventures we’ll have together.

Winchester: I’d be willing to try out a normal life for awhile, but if there’s ever a need for us, I’d be there, and I think the contessa would back me on that.

Remington: I have far greater plans than remaining a mere Hunter for the rest of my days, and I think a certain someone would agree.

Book #1 in The Legend Chronicles series

The start of an exciting new steampunk paranormal romance trilogy, which follows three brothers as they battle to find and protect their father's piece of the missing Book of Legend, while falling in love with the paranormal heroines along the way. Original.

They're the Chosen—Winchester, Remington and Colt—brothers trained to hunt down supernatural beings using the latest steam-powered gadgetry. It's a hard legacy to shoulder, and it's about to get a lot more dangerous...

A Devil Of A Job

Colt Jackson has gotten his name on many a wanted poster with success in the family business: hunting supernaturals across the frontier. Lately, though, there's a sulfur stink in the wind and the Darkin population is exploding. A rift in the worlds is appearing. To close it, Colt will have to do the unthinkable and work with a demon to pass arcane boundaries no human alone can cross.

Except when he summons his demon, he doesn't get some horned monstrosity: he gets a curvy redheaded succubus named Lilly, who's willing to make a bargain to become human again. He also gets Lilly's secret expertise on the machinations on the dark side of the rift. And her charm and cleverness help to get them out of what his silver-loaded pistol and mechanical horse can't. Of course, when all hell breaks loose, he might have to sacrifice his soul. But what's adventure without a little risk?

Book #2 in The Legend Chronicles series

Brothers Winchester, Remington and Colt know the legends—they were trained from childhood to destroy demon predators, wielding the latest steam-powered gadgetry.

It’s a devil of a job. But sometimes your fate chooses you...

Chasing Trouble

Winn Jackson isn’t interested in hunting nightmares across the Wild West—even if it’s the family business. Unlike his rakehell brothers, Winn believes in rules. As sheriff of Bodie, California, he only shoots actual law breakers. That’s what he’s doing when he rescues the Contessa Drossenburg, Alexandra Porter, a lady with all the elegance of the Old World—grace, beauty and class. And then he sees her fangs.

Alexandra isn’t just some bloodsucking damsel in distress, though. She’s on a mission to save her people—and she’s dead certain that Winn’s family legacy is the only way. Luckily, aside from grace and class, she also has a stubborn streak a mile wide. So like it or not, Winn is going to come back with her to the mountains of Transylvania, and while he’s at it, change his opinions about vampires, demon-hunting, and who exactly deserves shooting. And if she has her way, he’s going to do his darnedest to save the world.

Book #3 in The Legend Chronicles series

The Chosen: a prophecy older than dirt and more dangerous than death. Even as they perfected steam-powered gadgetry and rounded up varmints from Hell, the Jackson brothers didn’t believe in it. But when the chips are down, three brothers named for weapons aren’t going out without a fight...

A Walk On The Wild Side

Attorney by day, demon-hunter by night, Remington Jackson is used to being on the sunny side of the law, even in the Wild West. But it’s showdown time, and Remy and his brothers are getting desperate. They don’t have the relic they need to slam the door shut on evil—so Remy is going to have to find and steal part of it.

Enter China McGee, shapeshifter, thief, beauty, and current prisoner. When Remy offers her freedom in exchange for a little light-fingered help, she’s pretty sure she’s going to end the association with a good old-fashioned seductive double cross. But there’s something about fighting through a jungle full of Mayan ruins that makes you want to settle down together. China could change. Remy might be special. But none of that matters if the devil takes them all...

The progeny of a slightly mad (NASA) scientist and a tea-drinking bibliophile, Theresa Meyers learned early the value of a questioning mind, possessing lots of books and a good china teapot. A former journalist and public relations officer, she found far more enjoyment using her writing skills to pen romance novels in the turret office of her Victorian home. She’s spent nearly a quarter of a century married to her Prom date, drinks tea with milk and sugar, is an adamant fan of the television show Supernatural, and has an indecent love of hats.
