Guest post by Coleen Kwan + Giveaway

Please give a warm welcome to Coleen Kwan, who is here today to talk about siblings, something that most of us have or wish we had, and that is also an important aspect of the hero and heroine of , her latest release and Book #2 in her Real Men contemporary romance series. And if you tell us a bit about your own siblings or lack of you could even win a gift card to buy some more books! ;-)

Brothers and Sisters
by Coleen Kwan

I grew up in a family of six, an average size back then (not telling how many years back!) but large by today’s standards. My parents weren’t well-off, but my siblings and I generally had a great childhood. It’s satisfying and comforting to have those shared memories and experiences with my brother and two sisters, even though we had our fair share of squabbles.

Luke Maguire, the hero in my new book, , also comes from a large family. In his case, he has four older sisters. Helen, his eldest sister, is quite a bit older than he, and since the recent death of their mother has become quite bossy, especially after he moves out of their mother’s house without warning. Luke loves his sisters and their families. He likes their children and has spent many hours babysitting them. But he’s different from his sisters. He doesn’t want to settle down and have children of his own. His reservations stem mainly from the poor example set by his own father, who deserted the family when Luke was just a boy. Luke resembles his father in both looks and his love of books and reading, and he fears he would be just as bad as him if he became a husband and father.

In contrast, Tyler Jones, the heroine of my story, is an only child. She envies Luke’s many siblings. She endured a lonely childhood when her mother put her in foster care, and even though Tyler eventually found a happy home with her aunt, she’s still haunted by her mother’s abandonment, which colours her relationship with her three-year-old daughter, Chloe.

Luke’s sisters are bossy, opinionated, and teasing, but he loves them dearly and would do anything to protect them. His sisters instantly recognise the simmering attraction between him and his new neighbour, Tyler, and they aren’t afraid of a little meddling to get these two together. Luke is wary of his sisters’ desire for him to settle down, and he knows spending time with Tyler and her daughter will only encourage them, but he can’t seem to keep away from his feisty and sexy new neighbour.

I loved writing about Luke’s relationship with his sisters. They do argue and rag each other, but when push comes to shove they’re there for one another. Despite being the youngest, Luke is very protective of his sisters, especially Helen, the eldest, as he gradually realises how much she’s hurting from their mother’s passing.

isn’t just the story of Luke and Tyler’s romance, but also about family—good and bad—and how they shape us as adults.

To celebrate the release of , I’m giving away 3 $10 giftcards from either Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Kobo (winners’ choice), so don’t forget to enter my competition below.

Thanks to Stella for having me on her blog!

Book #2 in the Real Men series

Serial bachelor. Celebrity author. Her perfect forever?

When famous author Luke Maguire decides to write his next novel in the small town of Burronga, Australia, he's sure he can ignore the fiery redhead next door. Not only has he just been burned from a high-profile breakup, but he's never been one to set down roots. No, he'll finish his novel and leave Burronga. And soon.

Tyler Jones just wants to run her business with her best friend, Ally, and take care of her three-year-old daughter, Chloe. She's never needed help from anyone, especially not a man, and the brooding, rugged writer next door can't tempt her. Not in the least.

Only Tyler and Luke can't stay away from each other. So they set rules. No staying overnight, no future plans, no sappy good-byes when Luke inevitably quits town. But the chemistry between them is too strong to contain in a rulebook. Are Luke and Tyler ready to risk their lives of independence for something more?
